As of September 1, 2005 the department on labor and social security registered 531 participants of the Great Patriotic War, 87 families of the killed soldiers, 118 people with orders and medals, 8 residents of the blockade Leningrad, 878 lonely elderly people.
The department’s services aimed at supporting veterans of the Great Patriotic War and families of the killed soldiers include telephone installation, repair of stove heating, roofs, electric wiring, apartments, allocation of social accommodation and wheeled chairs.
The regional electric communications center installed phones for 55 participants of the Great Patriotic War.
The regional executive committee opened 3 shops for people with privileges in Rogachev and rural area.
To improve stationary assistance to WWII participants the central regional hospital authorized 27 beds, every district hospital – 2 beds and Dovsk district hospital – 5 beds.
On January 1, 2001 Rogachev opened Territorial Center on Social Services. For the time being the center has registered 895 elderly people, 173 disabled, 120 orphans, 92 mothers with many children, 198 lonely mothers, 213 children under fourteen, 44 teenagers under eighteen and 61 unemployed. The center renders social security to elderly people, social services and medical aid, juridical and moral support.
